Hermit Lake
Hermit Lake is a pristine 220-acre lake in Sanbornton, NH—a true hidden gem of the Lakes Region. While nearby Lake Winnipesaukee draws the crowds, Hermit Lake offers peaceful, crystal-clear waters perfect for kayaking, swimming, and fishing without the boat traffic.
Swimming & Water Sports
The lake's clean, clear water is perfect for swimming right off your private dock. Bring your kayaks, paddleboards, or rent a boat from nearby marinas. The water warms up nicely by July and stays swimmable through early September.
Fishing
Hermit Lake is known for its excellent fishing. Cast for smallmouth and largemouth bass, chain pickerel, and panfish. Early morning and evening are prime times, when the lake is glass-calm and the fish are biting.
Kayaking & Canoeing
Explore the lake's quiet coves and shoreline by kayak or canoe. With no motorboat traffic, the calm water makes for beautiful paddling that's accessible for all skill levels.
Stargazing

Summer

Fall
The Lakes Region's fall foliage is legendary. Peak colors typically arrive in early October, transforming the hills into a tapestry of red, orange, and gold. Perfect for hiking, scenic drives, and apple picking at local orchards.
Winter
World-class skiing at Gunstock Mountain is about 20-25 minutes away. Ice fishing on the frozen lake is a local tradition. Snowshoeing and cross-country skiing through quiet forests. Cozy evenings by the fire after a day in the snow.
Spring
The quiet season—and many locals' favorite. Watch the ice melt and nature come back to life. Excellent fishing as the lake warms. Fewer crowds, lower rates, and the first wildflowers blooming in the forest.

Local FavoriteA Gilford institution since 1993, Patrick's serves elevated pub fare in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Their burgers are legendary, and the craft beer selection is excellent. Live music on weekends. The kind of place where locals and visitors mix easily.
MK Kitchen
A beloved breakfast and brunch spot in Tilton, just a short drive from the property. Everything is made from scratch, from the fluffy pancakes to the house-cured bacon. Get there early on weekends—the line forms fast, but it's worth the wait.

Gunstock Mountain
About 20-25 minutes away, Gunstock offers skiing and snowboarding in winter, plus a mountain coaster, ziplines, and hiking trails in summer. The views from the summit are spectacular.
Profile Falls
A hidden gem in Bristol, this beautiful waterfall is an easy hike from the parking area. Perfect for a morning adventure or afternoon picnic. Swimming in the pool below is popular in summer.
Weirs Beach
The classic Lakes Region beach town, with arcades, ice cream shops, and the famous Winnipesaukee Scenic Railroad. Touristy in the best way—perfect for a fun family day out.
